East Peoria, IL - The sixth-ranked Illinois Central College Men's Golf team was back in action over the weekend, hosting the Cougar Spring Preview on Saturday and Sunday at Weaver Ridge Golf Course in Peoria. Coach Sean Kennedy's squad hosted a litany of fellow NJCAA opponents, with a few NCAA Division-III and NAIA programs sprinkled in as well. Ultimately, among a field of 19 (one team didn't finish), the Cougars bested them all, winning the event by 23 strokes, and Peyton Woods hitting or breaking 70 in both rounds for medalist honors and ICC's second win of the early spring season.

PEYTON WOODS | MEDALIST | -6 / 138
Simply put, Peyton Woods dazzled the Cougar Spring Preview over the last 48 hours. At his Saturday round, Woods fired an impressive -4/68, which included getting a birdie on four of the first five holes. Woods would birdie on two more holes, the par-five 11th and par-four 16th before his lone bogey of the round on the 17th (double). The other 17 holes on Saturday were either a par or better.

On Sunday, it was still a high-quality round from Woods, it just happened to be in the shadows of an even better round the day prior. Nonetheless, he did his thing, getting a birdie on the par-five 1st, par-five 11th, par-four 16th, and par-five 18th, while also ending with a par on 12 other holes for a -2/70.

TREY BOEKCER | 3RD | E / 144
The scores stayed low for Trey Boecker, as he would only bogey four of the event's 36 holes. On Saturday, Boecker would birdie both the par-five 1st and par-five 11th.

On Sunday, after a singular bogey on the par-four 2nd, Boecker went -2 the rest of the way, with birdies on the par-five 3rd and par-four 6th, parring each of the other 14 holes, including and E/36 on the back nine.

DJ NORMAN | 10TH | +6 / 150
DJ Norman would balance out his scorecard in both rounds. On Saturday he would birdie the par-four 2nd and dropped in an eagle on the par-five 11th for a +3 / 75 on the day.

On Sunday, Norman shot his way to a four-birdie day, including back-to-back birds on the par-four 5th and par-four 6th. He would end his event with a birdie on the par-five 18th.

QUINN COX | 17TH | +9 / 153
Quinn Cox improved his game as the event progressed. After a tough front nine, Cox rebounded with a two-birdie back nine to get a +5 / 77 in the Saturday round.

On Sunday, Cox would birdie three times, including the par-five 3rd, par-four 10th, and par-three 17th for a one-stroke improvement and a +4 / 76.

DRAKE KAUFMAN | 18TH | +9 / 153
Drake Kaufman had one of the better birdie numbers for the event among the ICC team, totaling four birdies during his Saturday round. Kaufman would birdie the par-four 2nd, par-five 11th, and end his round with consecutive birdies on the par-three 17th and par-five 18th.

On Sunday, Kaufman would nearly play even golf on the front nine, with just one bogey on the card. On the back nine, four pars and another birdie on the par-five 18th made it a +6 / 78 finish to the weekend.

BROOKS CLUVER | 23RD | +11 / 155
Brooks Cluver had a one-birdie, seven-par day on Saturday, totaling a +9 / 81, but Cluver would turn things around on his Sunday round, making a seven-stroke improvement.

On Sunday, Cluver would birdie the par-four 5th, before playing a -1/35 on the back nine, including a birdie on the par-five 11th and par-five 18th, seemingly a favorite of the Cougars during this weekend.

BROCK TAYLOR | 24TH | +11 / 155
Brock Taylor went toe-to-toe with Cluver over the weekend. On Saturday, he would birdie the par-four 2nd and par 12 other holes.

When it came to the Sunday round, Taylor would see a one-stroke improvement, getting three-birdies, including an E/36 on the front nine. Taylor birdied the par-five 3rd, par-three 12th, and par-four 15th for a +5/77 in the second round.
