Carterville, IL - A long drive was on the docket for the Illinois Central College Baseball team (6-19), as Brett Kelley's Cougars went south to Volunteer Field to take on the John A. Logan Vols, ranked 12th in Division-I, in a non-region contest. The Volunteers were on the scoreboard early and often and unfortunately, the Cougars were unable to counter in a 14-4 loss.

ICC made things interesting out of the gate, with an Aidan Fulton walk, Thomas Krueger walk, and a Colton Williams single loading the bases with one out. Fulton would score on an error to take an early lead. 

John A. Logan would counter with seven unanswered runs, a five-run first and two-run second, to go ahead 7-1 after two. 

In the third, after Krueger had singled on the first pitch of his at-bat and advanced into scoring position on a passed ball, Blake Norton got him home on an RBI single to cut it to a five-run game.

Another big inning for the Volunteers saw an RBI double and two-run home run put the hosts ahead by eight runs. 

Connor Patton scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-3 after four and a half. John A. Logan continued to use the extra base hits, with an RBI triple and an RBI double making it a nine-run margin. It would spread to 10 runs on a wild pitch through six innings. 

ICC would trim it back down to single digits on an RBI groundout from Krueger, but an RBI triple from the Vols in the bottom half ended the game just a bit early.
