4/23/2025 9:08:00 PM

Danville, Ill. - Emily Compton's two-hitter helped the Illinois Central College softball team split with #23 Danville on Wednesday at Winter Park in Region 24 action. Compton's masterpiece gave ICC a 3-1 win in the nightcap, ending DACC's twelve-game win streak. The Jaguars took the opener by a score of 3-1 to move their record to 31-10 while the Cougars stand at 23-20 overall.

ICC will finish out the regular season with a pair of Region games at Thome Field on Thursday and Friday. They will celebrate Sophomore Day on Thursday against Lincoln Land---honoring sophomores Courtney Campbell, Reagan Linder, Alaina Creamer, Emily Compton, Zoe Eeten, Olivia Strawn, Broghan Hall, Graci Guenther, Nivarra Oredina, and Marlee Brown and then host John Wood on Inclusion Day on Friday in a 2pm start.

GAME 1: (#23) Danville 5, ICC 3
The Cougars led all the way up to the fifth inning, but a late DACC rally gave the Jaguars the win.

Nivarra Oredina and Kelsey Bartels started the game with back-to-back singles and Oredina was brought in on a sacrifice fly by Kayleigh Harr for a 1-0 lead. ICC had runners on first and second with only one out, but DACC escaped the inning with minimal damage.

In the second, Graci Guenther walked and scored on a Courtney Campbell double to center field. Oredina then hit an RBI single on a 2-2 pitch to put the Cougars up 3-0.

Pitcher Broghan Hall was solid on the mound, helped by double plays to end both the first and fourth innings. However, the Jaguars scored two runs in the fifth on a walk, single, and two errors to cut their deficit to 3-2.  DACC was looking for more with runners on second and third with no outs, but the Cougars shut the door to keep the lead.

ICC had a chance for runs in the sixth as they had the bases loaded on singles by Zoe Eeten and Graci Guenther and a Campbell walk, but DACC ended the threat with a double play and fly out.

In the bottom half, Danville used a lead-off triple and single to tie the game at 3-all. They added two more runs on a walk, wild pitch and error for the final margin as the Cougars were unable to score in the top of seventh.
