East Peoria, Ill. - The Illinois Central College softball team opened their fall schedule by hosting Kankakee in a doubleheader on Saturday evening at Thome Field. It was the first action for the Cougars, whose roster of 15 players is made up of six sophomores and nine freshmen.

"We played well defensively but had a bit of a tough time getting our offense going in Game 1," coach Heather Doty said. "Our pitchers hit their spots and our catchers threw runners out, so that was a good thing."
