The Illinois Central College women's soccer team will open the Central District Tournament on Friday, October 30 against Southwestern Illinois (SWIC) at 12:00 pm at Glazebrook Park in Godfrey, IL.

"The team is in good spirits coming into the playoffs," head coach Javi Valle said. "We were hit with some injuries the last two games, but should have everyone ready to go by Friday."

The Cougars have split their two regular season meetings with the Blue Storm, winning 3-2 on September 13 in Belleville but falling 4-1 a week later on September 20 in East Peoria.

"SWIC is a good team that has given us problems the two times we faced them, especially with their leading goal scorer who can be very dangerous up front," Valle said. "Regardless, of this, we feel confident going into a third match-up with them and look forward to a good match."

On the season, Tori Morin leads the team with 11 goals while Theresa Hechler is the assist leader with 5.

If the Cougars win on Friday, they will play #2 seed Iowa Western on Sunday at 2:30 pm. The winner of Sunday's semi-finals will play in the District Championship on Saturday, November 7 with the location to be determined.
