Godfrey, Ill. - Abbie Lohman's grand slam and Samantha Verstraete's two dingers highlighted a big offensive day for the #20 Illinois Central College softball team as they swept Lewis and Clark 12-0, 14-0 in Region 24 action on Tuesday. Pitchers Meadow Terry and Bailey Herrick did their part as they shut down the Trailblazer bats to move ICC's record to 13-5 overall, 2-0 in Region 24 play.

GAME 1: #20 Illinois Central 12, Lewis & Clark 0
The Cougars put up a six-spot in the first inning and never looked back in the opener as they pounded out 14 hits. Terry cruised on the mound, striking out nine Trailblazers and giving up just two hits.

ICC led off the game with three straight singles (Laila Harris, Kaitlyn Atkinson, Verstraete), followed by two walks to go up 2-0. With two outs, Cassidee Bauer and Morgan Kessler had back-to-back singles for RBI's and a 6-0 lead.

Atkinson and Verstraete each singled in the second and Terry had an RBI single for a 7-0 advantage. In the third, Kessler and Harris each singled and Harr's single scored Kessler to make the score 8-0.

In the top of the fifth, Nora Connett and Abbie Lohman reached on errors, Carly Reglin singled, and Verstraete cleared the bases with a three-run shot to center field for the final score.

GAME 2: #20 Illiinois Central 14, Lewis & Clark 0 
Lohman's grand slam served as the highlight in a nine-run fourth inning. Lohman, Kessler, and Harris singled, followed by a two-RBI double by Atkinson. Then Harris, Atkinson, and Harr all scored on an error for an 8-0 advantage. Ryan Coombs doubled, Danni Neppl was hit by a pitch, and Herrick singled to load the bases, setting up Lohman's blast for a 12-0 advantage. 

Verstraete's long-ball came in the first on a 1-0 pitch that she crushed to left field, scoring Harr who had singled. 

Herrick went the distance on the mound, striking out seven and giving up just two hits.
