Alton, IL - The Illinois Central College baseball team completed the conference sweep of Lewis and Clark Community College on Sunday, winning game one, 12-1, and game two, 9-8. The Cougars are now 13-18 overall, and 13-3 in conference play.
ICC started game one with a 7-0 lead after the 1st inning, building up to a 12-0 lead after the top of the 5th. The game ended after 5 innings once Lewis & Clark only scored 1 run in the bottom of the 5th.
Micah McCoy had another home run, with 3 RBIs, continuing his hot streak from the day before.
The Cougars started off game two with a 7-1 lead by the top of the 3rd, but gave up a big inning in the bottom of the 3rd, with Lewis & Clark making it 7-6 at the top of the 4th. By the 6th inning, it was tied up at 8, until
Ryan Brucker singled, sending in 1 run to take the lead, 9-8. ICC's offense was bolstered by home runs from
Tyler Humphrey and
Micah McCoy.
Cleveland Bizosky pitched a crucial 5 innings with no runs and 7 strikeouts, earning him the win on the day.
The Cougars head to Burlington, Iowa to play Southeastern Iowa on Tuesday, March 31, at 4:00 pm.
