East Peoria, IL - The Illinois Central College baseball team split their Sunday doubleheader against Danville Area Community College, winning game one, 3-2, and losing game two, 7-8. The Cougars are 18-28 overall and 17-7 in conference play.
Game one was a close, low-scoring game, led by
Brady Bolen who gave up 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and recorded 2 strikeouts across all 7 innings to get the win for the Cougars.
Micah McCoy,
Mason Stoller, and
Jordan Heider each had a home run on the day that gave the Cougars the lead and then the win, 3-2.
Game two was another close game that didn't fall in ICC's favor. The Cougars started the game off leading 6-0 through the first two innings. After giving up 7 unanswered runs by DACC, the Cougars scored another run in the bottom of the 9th, tying it up at 7. The game went to two extra innings after going scoreless in the 10th. DACC scored one run in the top of the 11th, taking the lead, 8-7, and ICC couldn't match it. The Cougars had 13 hits, including
Ben Lapp's home run that scored 3 runs in the first inning.
ICC will play next at home against Parkland College on Saturday, April 25, at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
