Champaign, Ill. - The #18 Illinois Central College softball team had their eleven-game winning streak snapped on Monday as they lost to #16 Parkland 8-0 (5 innings), 4-3 (9 innings) in Region 24 action at Dodds Athletic Complex. The Cougars couldn't find their offensive footing in the opener with just two hits and responded in the nightcap but fell in the ninth inning.
ICC's record is now 19-7 overall and 8-2 in Region play while Parkland moved to 23-14, 10-0.
GAME 1: (#16) Parkland 8, (#18) Illinois Central 0 (5 inn.)
After a scoreless first inning, Parkland put up six runs in the second on five singles and two ICC errors. The Cobras added another run in both the third and fifth innings to get the win.
Meadow Terry struck out five in the loss, giving up just one earned run.

GAME 2:
Parkland took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when the Cougar bats came alive in the fourth as
Samantha Verstraete singled with one out.
Meadow Terry followed with a base hit to right field,
Bailey Herrick walked to load the bases, and
Ryan Coombs poked an RBI single to left field.
Abbie Lohman kept the rally going with another base hit to score Terry for a 2-all tie.
Kaitlyn Atkinson then grounded into a fielder's choice and after a Cobra error, Coombs scored for a 3-2 Cougar lead.
ICC stayed ahead until the bottom of the fifth when PC tied the game with a double, sacrifice bunt, and single to make the score 3-3. The game then turned into a pitcher's duel until the ninth, when Parkland's courtesy runner scored on a double down the line to take the game.
Bailey Herrick was solid on the mound for ICC, scattering 7 hits and striking out 5.
