Meadow Terry's first inning grand slam was all the scoring the #3 seeded Illinois Central College softball team would need as they blanked #4 Lincoln Land 8-0 in five innings in the opening round of the Region 24-B Tournament at Thome Field on Saturday. Terry was also steady in the circle, surrendering just two hits and striking out five to get the win.
Lincoln Land will face John Wood in the loser's bracket Sunday morning at 11:00 am at Thome Field with the Cougars playing the winner at 2pm.
The Cougars started quickly and darted to a 4-0 lead in the first.
Danni Neppl singled and
Laila Harris and
Samantha Verstraete both walked to load the bases setting the table for Terry's blast.
A solo home run in the third by
Bailey Herrick tacked on a run for a 5-0 score. In hte fifth, Harris singled and scored on a
Kayleigh Harr homer to center field for a 7-0 lead. A single, hit-by-pitch, and two walks gave ICC the 8-0 lead to end the game.
