Paula Gallardo scored two goals to lead the ICC women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Lewis and Clark CC at CougarPlex Soccer Field on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Trailblazers had beaten ICC this past Wednesday by a score of 2-1, but in this contest the Cougars' defense held strong and Gallardo's goals were enough to get the win.
Amy Tipper and Clementine Dufaure de Lajarte assisted on the scores.
"The team did an amazing job of bouncing back from this week's setback against the same Lewis and Clark squad," said head coach
Javier Valle. "We limited their chances and even though their goalkeeper did a great job of keeping the game close, we were good enough to get a couple past her. We needed this win if we wanted to keep our hopes up of hosting the playoffs here at ICC so this win was very important for us. Now we have to prepare ourselves to host a really good Indian Hills team on Wednesday."
Next up: The Cougars (7-3) will host #7 Indian Hills CC on Wednesday, October 6 at 1 pm at CougarPlex Soccer Field.
