For the second time this week the ICC women's soccer team played a ranked opponent and came up short, falling 3-1 to #8 Iowa Western on Saturday at CougarPlex Soccer Field.  The Reivers were the aggressors from the start, scoring midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead and then added two more goals in the second half.  Kaylee Kleist scored the Cougars' goal on an assist from Teresa Avino late in the game.  

Cougar goalkeeper Alina Ochmann had a busy day with 5 saves as the Reivers had a total of 8 shots on goal.

"Today was a tough loss against a very good team," head coach Javier Valle said after the game.  "We are a bit beat up with injuries (three starters out for the game) but the girls fought hard regardless of the circumstances.  We have to turn the page quickly as we have a very important region game on Thursday that will decide if we host the playoffs or not."
