Port Huron, Mich. - The ICC women's basketball team dominated Niagara County CC 88-58 at the NJCAA National Tourney on Friday afternoon. The Cougars put on a clinic in all areas, holding the Thunder Wolves to just 35% shooting while dishing out 26 assists on the offensive end to shoot 48% from the field (including 7-19 from three-point range) as Cierra McNamee (21), Dayja Evans (14), Kristyn Mitchell (13), T'yana Lovelace (12), and Keijah Gray (10 points) all reached double figures.  With the win, ICC earned the opportunity to play on Saturday in the 7th Place Final.

"We had strong play in several areas," head coach Karrie Redeker said.  "Our defense and CiCi's assertiveness got us rolling early and then everything else just fell in to place.  It was one of our most complete performances of the season and a fun game to be a part of.  We hopefully have one more game left in the tank so we can end the season on a win tomorrow."

McNamee scored the first eight points of the game to put ICC up 8-0 but NCCC went on a run of their own to go up 11-10.  McNamee and Lovelace went to work on the boards to combine for eight more points and give ICC an 18-17 lead after one quarter.

ICC used a 15-3 run to open the second period to gain momentum as McNamee scored inside, Dayja Evans hit a three-pointer (assist Kayla Gordon), Courtney Jones scored on a reverse, and McNamee and Lovelace, and Gray added buckets to give ICC a 33-20.  The Cougars kept rolling on a Gordon jumper, scores by Mitchell and McNamee and a three-pointer from Gordon (assist Jones) to go up 44-25 at the half.

The Cougars added to their lead in the third on a Peyton Dearing layup, six points from Mitchell and a Derria Edwards steal and layup to push the lead to 56-29.  Evans added two more treys (assists Lovelace and Kyleigh Block) along with two Lovelace baskets and a Gordon bucket to go up 66-34.

The hot shooting continued in the final quarter as Mitchell, Block, and Evans all hit three-pointers to help the Cougars coast to the finish.
