Cougars Looking For More in 2022

8/17/2022 10:01:00 AM

ICC women's soccer coach Javier Valle will look to build on last year's success as the Cougars open their season this weekend in Ottumwa, Iowa.  ICC went 8-6 and lost in the Region 24 championship a season ago but Valle has added even more speed and skill to this year's team in hopes of earning the program's first ever trip to Nationals in November.
The team will again ride the leg of All-American Paula Gallardo Villanueva and look to five other returners to lead the way.
"The girls have had a really solid pre-season," Valle said,  "and we are confident we can build off what we did last season with the talent that we've brought in.  It's a large group of new players but they've all stepped up and competition has been healthy amongst the group."

"We will be looking at players such as Cora Edwards to lead us in the attack while we look at Alba Vigo to keep us safe on goal," Valle said.   The ladies will take on Johnson County on Saturday, August 20 at 3pm in Ottumwa, IA and then play #17 Indian Hills on Sunday, August 21 at 3pm in Ottumwa.

Their first action at ICC CougarPlex Field will be Tuesday, August 30 against Heartland at 6pm.
