Cougars over Millikin in a Shutout

8/27/2022 11:09:00 PM

East Peoria, Ill. - More home cooking for the ICC men's soccer team (1-3), as the Cougars would find themselves in the middle of a three-game home stand, taking on the Big Blue from NCAA Division-III program Millikin University. From a season ago when the Cougars were able to secure 13 of 15 wins via shutout, their first of the 2022 season came in such a fasion when ICC shut out the Big Blue on Saturday afternoon, 3-0.

Kwanele Khathi would have quite the game, finding the net twice for two of the Cougars' three goals. Sophomore Antoni Llul Plomer would complete the Cougar scoring effort with a goal of his own. The 3-0 win over Millikin was also the most goals scored for Coach Gabriel Carreno's squad, who'd scored twice in each of the previous two games.

It'll be an all-ranked battle when the #18 Cougars take the pitch next. ICC welcomes D2 #11 Heartland on Tuesday, August 30th at the CougarPlex. The Hawks are coming off a season that saw them qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament. The Hawks, however, now bring in new leadership in the form of first-year head coach Alex Trent. Tuesday's matchup kicks off at 3PM.
