Pierrot Mourton each earned All-Region 24 honors for the Illinois Central College men's soccer team, while head coach
Gabe Carreno was named Region 24 Coach of the Year.
The group helped guide the Cougars to the Region 24 championship last week with a victory over rival Lewis & Clark. A closer look at the honorees:
- Le Roux, sophomore winger from Lannion, France leads the team with 14 goals and 4 assists on the season
- Ludena, a sophomore center back from Loja, Ecuador anchors the defense and has scored 2 goals
- Sanz Paz, a sophomore midfielder from Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain has been one of the engines for the Cougars controlling the tempo and also has 4 assists and 1 goal
- Mourton, a sophomore midfielder from Clermont-Ferrand, France leads the team in assists (7) and is second in goals (6)
- Carreno is in his fourth season at the helm for the Cougars and also earned COY honors in 2022 when he led the Cougars to a Region championship. He has navigated the squad back into the NJCAA DI national rankings this season and currently has an overall 43-23-7 record at ICC. He is assisted by Dan Juliger, Diego Zamudio, and Tacuma Sadlow.
The #11 ranked Cougars, who lost in the semi-finals of the Midwest District Tournament last Thursday, are hoping to receive an at-large bid to the NJCAA National Tournament when bids are released tomorrow (Tuesday). Nationals are November 16-22 in Daytona Beach, FL.
