Luiza Junior Dos Santos scored two goals and had an assist to propel the Illinois Central College women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Lincoln Trail on Sunday afternoon in Region 24 action.
Isabella Guerra scored the first goal for ICC on an assist from Dos Santos.
Louisa Bruns got in on the scoring action for the second goal (assist by
Kirsten Bruhns) and then Dos Santos booted in the next two Cougar scores (assists
Inga-Lisa Bauer and
Peyton Summers-Ponce) to put ICC up 4-0.
Melia La added the final goal for the home squad on an assist from
Louisa Bruns.
The win gave the Cougars the regular season sweep over the Statesmen and to move their overall record to 9-4-2 and 3-3 in Region 24. LTC fell to 5-5-1 overall. The Cougar women have now completed their Region 24 regular season and will await the other region teams to complete their regular season region schedules before seeds will be determined for post-season play.
Another note - the Thursday, Oct. 12 game vs. Central Methodist JV has been canceled, meaning the Cougars now have two regular season games remaining---at Olivet Nazarene JV on October 14 and then one final home game on Wed, Oct. 18 against Indian Hills.
