Ottumwa, IA - The Illinois Central College women's soccer team opened the 2024 season with a 3-0 loss to Indian Hills in the Indian Hills Classic on Friday afternoon. The Cougars had eight total shots on goal but could not convert any of them into scores, leading to the loss.
The Warriors scored their first goal just three minutes into the contest, forcing ICC to play from behind. IHCC made the score 2-0 at the 32:45 mark in the opening frame and snuck in another goal just before the halftime horn for the 3-0 lead.
ICC goalkeeper Maria Melendez had six saves on the afternoon.
The Cougars will have Saturday off before playing #1 and two-time defending National Champion Iowa Western in Ottumwa. The Reivers have an 0-0-1 record after playing to a 3-3 tie with Navarro College on Friday.
