Lewis & Clark Defeats Women's Soccer

Cougars Have Much Needed Two-Week Break

9/7/2024 6:16:00 PM

East Peoria, Ill. - The Illinois Central College women's soccer team gave a solid effort on Saturday afternoon against Region 24 rival Lewis & Clark but the Cougars came up short, losing 2-0 at ICC CougarPlex Field.

"It was a tough result," coach Javi Valle said.  "The game was even up until about the 75th minute but unfortunately with our injuries and lack of depth, we got tired and they took advantage of that."

"Thankfully we have two weeks off and will use that time to get everyone healthy," Valle continued.  "I know once we recover the injured players, this team will be able to compete at a high level."

The Cougars will play next on September 21 at Wabash Valley in Region 24 action.  The original schedule showed a game against UIS on September 12, but that game has been postponed for now due to Cougar injuries --- with the hopes to reschedule.

The Cougars fell to 0-4 while Lewis & Clark moved to 2-2-1.
