East Peoria, Ill. - The Illinois Central College women's soccer team battled Olivet Nazarene University JV squad as well as a rainy Thursday afternoon and came away with a 4-4 tie at CougarPlex Soccer Field. The Cougars burst out to a 3-1 lead and held that for most of the game but the Tigers made a furious comeback to score three goals in the final ten minutes to force the tie.
"It was a good game even though the weather conditions affected a lot of it," coach Javi Valle said. "We felt that we were dominant in every aspect; unfortunately when we were up 3-1, our tired legs (we had one sub with everyone else on the team injured) got the best of us and in the last ten minutes they were able to put three goals past us quickly. The team showed grit by pulling back with a couple minutes remaining to tie it up. It's tough to make an overall assessment with so many injuries, but we applaud the twelve that were able to pull through today."
The Cougars' record stands a 5-3-2.
